Abstract
Brachydactyly,. the shorteness of fingers & toes, is and anomaly of transverse segmentation, either intercalary or terminal, in development of fingers & toes. This anomaly is preeminently a genetic disorder and it is usually transmitted as a dominant phenotype. Most cases of this anomaly have needed no treatment. But recently, the demand to correct this anomaly is being increased according to changes of patterns & quality of life. Here, we present 2 cases of brachydactily type E. One of the cases was shorteness of 4th toe, left, and the other was shortness of 4th toe, both.
The cases were corrected by osteotomy on distal 1/3 of shortened metatarsal bone and iliac bone graft with K-wire fixation, under local anesthesia.
Then, we report the two cases with review of literature¢¥s and references.
